How I Safely Lost 149 Lbs In 6 Months - And Why It Didnt Come Back

People often can’t believe that I used to weigh 346 lbs, because to look at me now, a slim guy, they can’t see how it’s even possible. What’s more, they can’t believe that it was only 12 months ago when I weighed 346 lbs. Once the shock has subsided they question how safe it was to lose half my body weight in 8 months. ‘Real safe,’ I tell them. ‘I did my research.’

Weight loss can be really dangerous, and people know it. So when I finally decided that enough was enough, and I was going to lose my weight once and for all I knew that I had to be very careful because I certainly didn’t want to do more harm than good. The other main point I had was that I didn’t want a diet which would lose weight short-term but over time that fat would creep back on.

Most crash-diets work by eliminating some food groups which causes a huge drop in calorie intake. So your body adapts. It realises that you’re eating less calories so it does the sensible thing - it starts to burn less calories. Fearing that you man starve altogether (your body doesn’t know any better!) it decides to convert as much of your calorie intake as it can into fat.

I sought a better way. I wanted to find continuous, safe weight loss without stopping consumption of a whole food group. What I came across was called calorie shifting. What this does is rotate your diet so you eat every food group. The result is your body losing weight without it realising that you’re dieting. Because of this it doesn’t turn as many calories into fat as it can, and you lose weight!
